Vito Pelikan, LMHC, LPCC
Before we get to credentials: I'm a husband, a dad, and someone who has absolutely used a nerdy reference in a therapy session. I'll probably do it again.
I got into this work because I'm fascinated by relationships. The romantic kind, yes, and also the relationship you have with your anxiety, with your depression, with the version of yourself you learned to be in childhood that's still running the show. That's the stuff that interests me most.
My personality shows up in sessions. I'm curious, a little nerdy, and I lean into humor when it's tasteful. I'll use whatever's useful: a theoretical framework, a pop culture reference, a well-placed metaphor. Whatever gets us somewhere.
If you're looking for someone warm, professional, and maybe a little unconventional, let's talk.
A little more about the way I work
I use Gottman and EFT with couples, IFS for parts work, and I take a systems lens to pretty much everything. I'm never just looking at the symptom. I'm looking at the water it's swimming in. What's going on around you? What are the patterns? What would change if one thing shifted?
Mindfulness and CBT runs through most of what I do. That doesn't mean we're sitting cross-legged. It means we slow down enough to notice what's actually happening before you react on autopilot. A lot of the real work can exist in that gap.
Whatever we work on, a few things are always true. What happens in this room stays here. You have my full, undivided attention. I'm not going to tell you what to do, push an agenda, or judge you for anything you say or have done. My job isn't to give you answers. It's to help you find clarity, build skills, and trust your own judgment more. I take that seriously as a professional.
